Russia - R U 1 (of us)

We did it again. Alabuga International School participates for the second time in this extraordinary, funfilled event. Our kids absolutely love this song which was written by some of our teachers and is heard all over the school. We included some voices form last year's entry and found some new talent. The content of the lyrics can be summed up as follows:

Are you ... one of the children that still believe in magic?
Are you ... one of the children with superpowers like love, peace, friendship, understanding and care?
Are you ... one of the curious children?
R U 1 of us?

The Tatar part includes a reference of two mystical folkloristic figures, Su-anasui and Shurale. The children sing that they are not afraid of anything, not even those two.

We hope you have as much fun watching and listening as we had putting this together.

  4. Brilliant! A wonderful video with too much to take in if you only watch it once. I've now watched several times and the tune is extremely catchy too. Your town looks very interesting too - it has made me want to visit Tatarstan one day, as the houses look almost Scandinavian. Not what I expected from my own Russian experiences.
Best of luck from Scotland. This surely will place highly...

Thank you for your comment Michael. The place you see in the video is our settlement in the immediate surrounding of our school. It is not typical for Tatarstan but we are quite happy to live and work here.

  11. I am stunned by the video quality but even more by the rich music which is full of cool ideas. Wonderful how the children get their part in it, too.
Impressive singing and a visual effect never seen in Schoolovision before: shine-through faces!
Lovely reminiscence with the chak-chak. I hope you will bring some of the real stuff with you when you come to Poland.
